There is currently no conclusive evidence that hormonal contraception causes weight gain. This doesn’t mean that it doesn’t in some people, but simply that we can’t conclusively say that it does. Every person’s experience of hormonal contraception is unique, and while it’s possible that hormonal contraception causes weight gain, most studies point to this being a short term effect caused by water retention.
