All progestogen-only forms of contraception are safe to use in the first 6 weeks of breastfeeding. This includes the Mini Pill, Hormonal IUD, Implant or Injections. However, you may need to wait a few weeks before being able to commence these methods after childbirth. Our postnatal contraception information can give you more information on your options and when you can start using them.
